Welcome to HMS!
Renikka Owen will step into the role as Interim Principal at Hopkinsville Middle School, effective July 1, 2025. Owen is a proud native of Hopkinsville and a 2002 graduate of Hopkinsville High School. She continued her education at Western Kentucky University, earning her degree and returning to Hopkinsville to begin her teaching career. She was named assistant principal at Millbrooke Elementary in 2015 and became principal in 2020.
“Mrs. Owen is a proven leader who brings a passion for student achievement and a dedication to building strong school communities,” said Superintendent Bentzel. “Her experience at the elementary level and her ability to connect with students, families, and staff make her an excellent fit to lead Hopkinsville Middle School. We are confident she will continue to build on the great work happening at HMS and continue moving the school in the right direction.”
“I am honored to serve as the Interim Principal of Hopkinsville Middle School—a place that holds a special place in my heart,” said Renikka Owen. “This opportunity is incredibly meaningful to me, and I’m excited for what’s ahead. It’s a blessing to return and serve the school that helped shape who I am today."
It's going to be a fantastic year! I can't wait to get to know your student and form great relationships with each of their families. There are so many great things happening at HMS and I am so excited to be a part of the HMS family. I am honored to serve as your principal as we start the 25-26 school year.
